Mayor Neeley issues executive order to protect City officials and employees

EXECUTIVE ORDER #23-001
PROHIBITING UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO THE GARAGE BELOW CITY HALL

Recently, threats of physical violence and intimidation have been directed towards City officials and employees;

These threats of physical violence and intimidation are unacceptable, have no place in our City, and do nothing to move our City forward;

The Neeley administration condemns such threats of physical violence and intimidation in the strongest possible terms;

§2-3.5 of the Flint Code of Ordinances provides that the Mayor “shall determine the use of space within City Hall and within City buildings.”

Pursuant to that authority, I, SHELDON A. NEELEY, Mayor of the City of Flint, issue this Executive Order directing that the parking garage beneath City Hall is designated a non-public area for the use of persons authorized to park in the parking garage, their passengers, and City employees engaged in the performance of their duties;

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that any unauthorized persons loitering or who are otherwise present in the parking garage below City Hall violate §31-41 of the Flint Code of Ordinances and are subject to arrest and prosecution;

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that as soon as possible, this Order be filed with the City Clerk, that widespread publicity and notice be given of this Order, and that appropriate signage regarding this Order be posted on or by all entrances to the parking garage below City Hall.
