Flint’s Special Public Events Curfew in Effect Friday

June 28, 2016 (Flint, Mich) — Flint Police Chief Tim Johnson announced Tuesday that the City of Flint’s Special Public Events Curfew will be in effect Friday, July 1, 2016 for the city’s Fourth of July Fireworks event.

“We are excited about the events planned for Flint residents this coming Friday,” said Chief Johnson. “We want everyone to have a good time and get home safe, so we’re calling on parents and guardians of kids under the age of 17 to make sure their kids are with an adult if they are going to be out after 6:00 p.m. Friday night. There will be a lot of officers out to help make sure everything goes well.”

Public notice is given by the Flint Police Chief that: Pursuant to Section 31-7.4,– Notice is hereby given that the Special Public Events Curfew shall be in effect for the July 1, 2016 Fireworks display. The curfew will also be in effect for the Back to the Bricks festivities Tuesday, August 16, 2016 through Friday, August 19, 2016.  The provisions of the Special Public Events Curfew extends the curfew hours for minors under the age of 17 during special public events as deemed necessary by the Chief of Police to protect the health, safety and welfare of the general public.

During the Special Public Events scheduled on July 1, 2016; and, August 16 through and including August 19, 2016, it shall be unlawful for an unsupervised minor under the age of 17 to be in the designated public places specifically identified by the Chief of Police from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM each day.

A map is provided identifying the areas specific to the scheduled special public events.  Parents and guardians are urged to pay close attention to the geographic areas subject to the Special Public Events Curfew. Parents and guardians are also responsible for compliance with this curfew and the regularly applicable citywide curfew.
