Flint Police Provide Information/Documents on Now Resolved MSP LEIN Investigation

(FLINT, Mich)– In mid-October Deputy Chief Devon Bernritter of the Flint Police Department sent the following letter to the officials with the Michigan State Police after being informed (by media) of an investigation by Michigan State Police (MSP) triggered by an allegation regarding usage of Law Enforcement Investigation Network (LEIN) by a member of the Flint Police Department.

Deputy Chief Bernritter reached out to MSP regarding the matter (see letter below). MSP officials have since provided two subsequent communications to Flint police (letters below), one apologizing for not initially notifying FPD officials of the allegation and subsequent investigation, and another letter to inform the department that MSP has concluded its investigation and found no LEIN violation.
