A grand opening of the new Flint Police Blue Badge Community Service Center was held Monday, May 11 at the center’s new location in the Dort Mall, 3600 blk. S. Dort Hwy. The Community Service Center will be staffed by a Police Officer, a Neighborhood Service Officer and volunteers from the Blue Badge Volunteer Corps. Citizens will be able to use this location to file a non-violent police report, report blight or animal problems in their neighborhood and obtain mediation services to help resolve non-criminal disputes.
Police Chief James Tolbert hopes the new center can serve as a model for future centers in other areas of the city. He also encourages residents and area businesses to get involved, saying “we want the people in the community to come here and get to know those working here. This is their center and we want them to feel invited and to become active participants.” If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with the Flint Police Department Blue Badge program please contact Ofc.
