City of Flint Assessor Stacey Kaake takes on state leadership role

FLINT, Michigan — City of Flint Assessor Stacey Kaake has been appointed president of the Michigan Assessors Association Board of Directors. The Michigan Assessors Association is an organization dedicated to advancing the field of assessing statewide, especially through education.

“I am looking forward to growing the MAA’s relationship with smaller associations, to assist them with their education needs, as well as making information assessors need more readily available on our website,” Kaake, who has nearly 35 years of experience in the field of assessment including serving as City of Flint assessor for the past four years.

The Michigan Assessors Association is governed by a 16-member Board of directors, including the president and four other executive officers. Each Executive Officer serves a one-year term. Kaake’s term is for 2021.

“The appointment of Stacey as President of the Michigan Assessors Association Board of Directors speaks to the high-quality staff that works diligently on behalf of Flint residents every day. Her colleagues recognize her abilities for assessment practice and I know she will greatly enhance the mission of the Association,” Mayor Sheldon Neeley said.

The Michigan Assessors Association “is organized to improve the standards of assessment practice; provide a clearing house for the collection and distribution of useful information relative to assessment practice; and promote justice and equity in the distribution of the tax burden,” according to its website.

Kaake is a Michigan Master Assessing Officer, the highest level of certification offered, and has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Michigan.
