PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release

SUBJECT: SANITARY SEWER OVERFLOW

On June 7, 2022 around 8:00 am, the City of Flint Sanitary Sewage Collection System overflowed sanitary sewage from a sanitary sewer manhole onto the ground in Swartz Creek Golf Course east of Parkside Drive. Around 150 gallons of raw sewage mixed with rain spilled onto the ground. The discharge ended around 12:00 pm. This discharge was due to the sanitary sewer being overwhelmed from 2 inches of rain that had fallen this morning. The City of Flint Water Service Center responded in a timely manner and cleaned the sanitary sewer. As a precautionary measure required by law, the State of Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy and the Genesee County Health Department have been notified.
