City of Flint activates emergency response for November 22, 2021 Explosion

FLINT, Michigan — The City of Flint has activated emergency response efforts to assist residents affected by the November 22 explosion.

“This is a tragedy in our community. We must pray and wrap our arms around the families impacted. The City of Flint appreciates all of our community partners that have helped expedite our response,” Mayor Sheldon Neeley said. “We ask for sensitivity and compassion during this time. Remember, these are families, someone’s loved ones with homes destroyed.”

The City of Flint is working with local community organizations, faith-based facilities, and surrounding public safety municipalities to help with family resources and recovery efforts.

The City of Flint is also asking the community to use caution when entering the explosion area as it is still being assessed and secured.

United Way has set up a donation fund called the November 22 Flint Home Explosion Fund. Anyone can donate in 1 of 3 ways:

  1. www.unitedwaygenesee.org, click donate and choose this fund
  2. www.unitedwaygenesee.org/give
  3. Mail donation to: United Way Genesee, PO Box 949 Flint, MI 48501, with note: “November 22 Flint Home Explosion Fund”

We encourage all residents affected by the explosion to call the City of Flint Public Health Office at 810-410-2020. Family resources are available for shelter, food, clothing, mental health assistance, housing vouchers, and other essential needs. Please give your name, phone number, address, and service needed.

The City of Flint will continue to update the community regarding efforts to assist residents affected by this tragedy.
