FLINT, Mich – Mayor Karen Weaver issued the following statement today in response to the recent events that have unfolded related to the unfortunate incident that occurred this weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia:

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Charlottesville and Mayor Mike Signer. The acts that occurred this weekend are indeed tragic and disturbing. This is a time for leaders to take a firm stance against racism and classism and do what they can to change the policies and practices that permit such injustices, which has led to unrest. As we continue to work through our own issues here in Flint, Charlottesville know that we are with you in solidarity and the fight for peace and justice.”
