City of Flint has 18 New Reserve Police Officers

An informal swearing-in ceremony was held at City Hall Monday for 18 individuals set become the reserve officers for the City of Flint. Chief Timothy Johnson and others from the Flint Police Department held an official graduation ceremony for the new officers Monday evening. The men and women of various ages began training in the Reserve Academy back in November. The officers received their badges at the ceremony, which many chose to have pinned on by family members.

The Flint Police Department hasn’t had an active Reserve Officer Program in decades. Chief Johnson felt it was important to bring the program back to provide the department with administrative and patrol support. The reserve officers will also be called on to help with large scale special events like Crim races and Back to the Bricks.
