Mayor Urges Local Job Seekers to Attend Job Fair Monday, December 19

WHAT:        Closing the Gap Job Fair
WHEN:        Monday, December 19, 2016  9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
WHERE:      Berston Field House 3300 Saginaw St, Flint, MI 48505

DETAILS:     Mayor Karen Weaver held a press conference with County Commissioner Bryant Nolden of Friends of Berston and Dartanyan Jamerson of Mott Community College-Workforce Development Friday to announce details about the “Closing the Gap” Job Fair. The job fair will be held Monday, December 19, at Berston Field House. Participants are urged to attend a pre-employment workshop from 9:00-10:00 a.m. where they will receive tips to sharpen their interview skills and even update their resume.

Mayor Weaver said unemployment in Flint is one of several issues city officials are working to address and this job fair is an opportunity residents looking for work should make the most of.

“The people of Flint have a wealth of knowledge and skills but they have been ignored and overlooked,” said Weaver. “This job fair aims to connect skilled residents with employers who have job opportunities now. I want to thank our partners, GST Michigan Works!, Mott Community College and Friends of Berston for joining with us to take on this challenge.”
