Flint, Mich. — The City of Flint is entering a new chapter with the revitalization of Haskell Community Center — the home of the Police Athletic League (PAL). The center, which has served residents for over 100 years, will continue its legacy as a hub for youth development and community engagement, while also introducing Glen Kelly Field for football, soccer, and lacrosse.
Now, with the dedication of Glen Kelly Field, the legacy of longtime educator and community champion Glenn Kelly will live on. Kelly coached future NFL Super Bowl champions Mark Ingram Sr. and Andre Rison, and his work continues to inspire investment in Flint’s youth and families.

A press conference was held on Tuesday, September 2 at Haskell Community Center (2201 Forest Hill Avenue, Flint, MI), as preparations begin for the grand opening and dedication ceremony scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
The restored Haskell Community Center will once again serve as a west side hub for neighborhood engagement, recreation, and youth programming.
“These projects represent not just bricks and mortar, but renewed hope, opportunity, and connection for our neighborhoods,” said Mayor Sheldon Neeley. “We are proud to restore this space for the community and to honor Glen Kelly’s lasting impact.”
The City of Flint invites residents, families, and community partners to join the celebration on September 20, which will feature family-friendly activities, food, and opportunities to connect with local organizations.
