Mayor Weaver Announces New Chief Recovery Officer

FLINT, Mich — Mayor Weaver continues to make progress in the effort to increase staff at City Hall to better meet the needs of the Flint community and help address issues important to residents. Weaver is pleased to announce that after a detailed application and interview process, Jameca Patrick-Singleton has been hired to serve in the new position of Chief Recovery Officer.

“We are pleased to welcome Jameca onboard,” said Weaver. “She is passionate about Flint and has spent her career working in this community.”

Jameca Patrick-Singleton is a lifelong Flint resident. She studied social work at Mott Community College and the University of Michigan-Flint earning degrees from both schools. She also earned a Master’s in Social Work from Michigan State University, with a concentration in Organizational and Community Practice.

Jameca spent the last 10 years working at Metro Community Development in Flint, where she was the Director of Coalition Building Programs and Coordinator for the Flint/Genesee Continuum of Care. Her work to secure grants, and leadership on other projects helped bring millions of dollars in funding to the Flint community aimed at securing housing for families and individuals experiencing homelessness.

The purpose of the Chief Recovery Officer position is to help maximize the involvement of Flint residents as leaders work to increase support services and rebuild the City’s water infrastructure after the man-made water disaster. The Chief Recovery Officer is also expected ensure that Flint residents are well-informed and engaged in community dialogue, visioning and collective efforts to advance the City’s recovery and restore the health and well-being of its residents.

Jameca is excited about her new role at City Hall, and eager to use her skills and experience to make a positive impact as the Administration works to move Flint forward on the road to recovery.

“In my new role as Chief Recovery Officer, I hope to empower the residents of Flint by making them aware of resources and information available regarding water recovery efforts”, said Jameca Patrick-Singleton. “I also want to help ensure that city and community leaders are aware of residents’ thoughts and concerns as they make decisions throughout this recovery process.”

City officials thank the Skillman Foundation for funding the Chief Recovery Officer position. A position identified as a critical need to help City leaders be more in tune with the citizens of Flint, and for the community to be more informed about efforts underway to make Flint a better place to live, work and play.
