City of Flint Removes Illegal Signs as Part of Ongoing Blight Elimination Efforts

FLINT, Mich. — Blight removal is more than just demolishing buildings—it is a mindset and an ongoing commitment to improving our neighborhoods.
With warmer weather right around the corner and spring cleaning in the air, the City of Flint is already taking steps to beautify our community.
Today, in compliance with city ordinance, the City of Flint began removing makeshift billboards and signs posted on poles throughout the city. These signs can create traffic hazards and detract from the appearance of our neighborhoods.
“Not only can these illegal signs be a distraction to drivers, creating a greater safety risk, they are also unsightly and littered throughout our community,” said Mayor Sheldon Neeley. “You don’t see these signs in other communities across Genesee County, and we are sending the message that they are not welcome here.”
