Arctic Cold Ravages Roads; Flint Launches Aggressive Repair Plan

FLINT, Mich. — Flint City road crews have been working overtime to fix local roads torn up by cold and snow over the winter months. Crews have used more than 200 tons of cold patch to fill potholes, but that isn’t enough—the job isn’t done. As warmer temperatures move in, we are looking to put more crews on the road to tackle the problem.
“After a long, tough winter, our roads have taken a beating,” said Dan Schiller, Flint Street Maintenance Supervisor.
To complete repairs as quickly as possible, the city is adding four teams that will work overtime and weekends to repair damaged roads.
Mayor Sheldon Neeley added, “Our crews have been working hard to keep streets safe, and with warmer weather on the way, we’re aggressively expanding those efforts across the city.”
Along with the plan for road repairs, the administration is preparing a resolution to send to the City Council asking for additional funding for sidewalk repairs.
