Sanitation: Trash, Recycling & Compost Services

The City of Flint is proud to partner with Priority Waste to provide sanitation services to residents, including trash, recycling, and compost/yard waste pickup. Learn more about pickup times and acceptable items for each service.

Service Days: Monday-Friday

Compost Pickup Period: April 1 through the week containing November 30. Limit is up to 20 bags; bags and cans must be 40 gallons or smaller and less than 50 lbs.

Bulk Pick Up/Special Pick Up: Up to 3 Bulk items allowed per week and up to 20 bags per week. No special pick up needed.

Waste, Compost, and Recycling are picked up on the same day.

Holidays: When a service day falls on or after a holiday, services will move to the following business day. Holidays that affect the schedule are New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4th), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. If a holiday falls on a weekend, services will not be impacted.

Recycling Collection

Recycling materials must be contained in a container labeled “Recycle.”

Acceptable Recycling Materials:

  • Plastic: Bottles, jugs, storage containers, tubs.
  • Metal: Empty cans and aerosol cans, aluminum, tin.
  • Paper: Newspaper, junk mail, flattened cardboard and box board, magazines, mixed paper.
  • Clean flattened cardboard, box board, and paperboard.
  • Glass: Clear and colored glass.
