Yard waste collection extended one week; pickup will continue through week AFTER Thanksgiving

FLINT, Michigan—Mayor Sheldon Neeley announced today that he negotiated an extension to yard waste pickup in the City of Flint. The final curbside yard waste pickup for the season now will be the week of November 29-December 5, 2020, on residents’ regular trash day.

Republic Services reported to the City that it was short staffed because its workforce was impacted by COVID-19 which caused the delays. Republic indicated that it expects the company will be caught up with all pickup delays by the end of this week.

“We will continue to hold those who do business with the City of Flint accountable to make sure that all residents get the service they deserve,” Mayor Neeley said.

All residents are reminded to bag their leaves for curbside collection. The City of Flint works in conjunction with Republic and Keep Genesee County Beautiful on its annual BAG IT! campaign.

REMINDER: Next week, households normally serviced on Thursday and Friday (Nov. 26-27) will be delayed by one day because of the Thanksgiving holiday.
