FLINT, Mich. – The City of Flint is reminding residents not to park in the streets during severe winter weather. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for our area lasting until 7 a.m. Thursday, February 13. Snow accumulation of 4-6 inches is expected for Thursday morning, with an additional 1-3 inches expected by Saturday.
These expected snowfall totals could cause hazardous road conditions. “Resident safety is our top priority,” said Mayor Sheldon Neeley. “We thank everyone for their cooperation in keeping our community safe. Stay warm and take care!”
Residents are urged to take the following precautions:
-Avoid travel if possible to reduce the risk of accidents on hazardous roads.
-Remove vehicles from the streets to allow plows and salt trucks to operate efficiently.
-Drive with caution if travel is necessary—slow down, maintain a safe following distance, and be mindful of slick road conditions.
-Give plows and salt trucks plenty of space so they can work safely and effectively.
