Water Distribution Sites Moving from Fire Stations to Local Neighborhoods

Five Community Water Resource Sites Now Open
Water distribution ends at three Flint Fire Stations Monday May 9

May 6, 2016 (FLINT) – Flint residents now have five convenient options closer to home to receive bottled water, filters, replacement cartridges and at-home water testing kits, according to the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD).

“We are continuing our transition from the fire stations to community water resource sites,” said Capt. Chris Kelenske, Deputy State Director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security and commander of the MSP/EMSHD. “Until the water meets quality standards, we will provide bottled water, filters and cartridges to Flint residents.”

Effective immediately, Flint residents can go to any of the following locations to obtain water supplies:

Ward 1:
Genesee County Land Bank,

Ross Plaza, 2320 Pierson Road

Ward 3 & 4:
Antioch Missionary Baptist Church-owned property

1401 E. Stewart Ave.

Ward 6:
West Court Street Church of God

2920 W. Court St.

Ward 7:
Dort Federal Credit Union Event Ctr,

3501 Lapeer Road

Ward 9:
Genesee County Land Bank,

Eastown Bowl Bowling Alley,
3001 S. Dort Highway

Hours of operation for these community sites:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday: Noon – 6 p.m.

Tuesday and Friday:
Noon – 8 p.m.

Note: The Community Water Resource Site located at Greater Holy Temple, 6702 N. Dort Highway (Ward 3), has moved to a site owned by Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at 1401 E. Stewart Ave. This change will enable Greater Holy Temple to serve as a Community Help Center in the future, potentially offering a variety of services to residents dealing with the ongoing effects of the Flint water crisis in the coming months.

Now that these Community Water Resource Sites are open to the public, the following fire stations will stop distributing water supplies Monday, May 9th at noon:

Fire Station #1
310 East 5th St.

Fire Station #5
3402 Western Road

Fire Station #8
202 East Atherton Road

Until further notice, Fire Station #3 (1525 Martin Luther King Ave.) will remain open and be staffed by members of the Michigan National Guard from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Additional Community Water Resource Sites are expected to open across the City of Flint within the next month. These sites will be staffed by Flint residents, with hiring coordinated by GST Michigan Works! Positions are still available, for more information go to www.gsworks.org.

The State of Michigan continues to coordinate response efforts in partnership with federal agencies, the City of Flint, Genesee County and local community organizations.
