See the resolution: Flint City Council will vote only to decide if residents get $20 million from insurance company

FLINT, Michigan–Flint City Council is scheduled to vote on Monday, Dec. 14, 2020 to decide whether or not it should approve a $20 million payment from the City’s insurance carrier to go to Flint residents.

The City Council CANNOT change or impact the larger state settlement or its terms. They have NO AUTHORITY to do that. They can only decide if insurance money should go to residents.

The city’s largest employee unions — AFSCME Local 1600, AFSCME Local 1799, and the Flint Police Officers Association — support a YES vote by Flint City Council to accept the $20 million insurance payment to benefit residents with non-taxpayer dollars.
