SUBJECT: SANITARY SEWER OVERFLOW

On May 13, 2022 around 10:00 am, the City of Flint Sanitary Sewage Collection System overflowed sanitary sewage from a sanitary sewer manhole onto the pavement located in the intersection of North Chavez Drive and Kearsley Street. Around 200 gallons of raw sewage spilled onto the pavement. The discharge ended around 11:00 am. This discharge was due to the sanitary sewer being plugged from a grease and rag build up. The City of Flint Water Service Center responded in a timely manner and removed the blockage in the sanitary sewer. The City of Flint Water Service Center cleaned both the sanitary and storm sewers. As a precautionary measure required by law, the State of Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy and the Genesee County Health Department have been notified.
