New Police Service Center Now Open in Flint

March 9, 2017 (Flint, Mich)– The Flint Police Department is making great strides to be more engaged and embedded in area neighborhoods. Officials held a grand opening Thursday morning for a new Flint Police Neighborhood Service Center. It is the fourth police service center now open in the city. The newest center is located at 1625 University Avenue, right across the street from Kettering University’s Campus Center.

“We built this service center into the design of this new building,” said Kettering University president Dr. Robert McMahan. “There was an old party store on this corner and we completely redeveloped it. It’s an important resource for the community, to have a touch point with the Flint Police and be able to have a kind of community interface and ability to enhance security and livability in this area of the city.”

The Flint Police Neighborhood Service Center will be open Monday though Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It will be staffed with a neighborhood police officer, a neighborhood service officer as well as a reserve police officer. Leaders are also looking for volunteers to help. Residents are urged to visit the center for help with non-emergency matters, including nuisance complaints and parking issues.
