New City Council Sworn in Monday, November 13, 2017

FLINT, Mich– After a long, tense election and campaign season, newly elected and re-elected City officials were sworn-in today reflecting the results of the election held nearly one week ago on November 7, 2017. City Council members were sworn-in on the third floor of Flint City Hall in Council Chambers. In accordance with the Flint City Charter, City Council members took the official Oath of Office today, Monday, November 13, 2017.

The following are now the official councilpersons for their respective wards:

Ward 1- Eric Mays,
Ward 2- Maurice Davis,
Ward 3- Santino J. Guerra,
Ward 4- Kate Fields,
Ward 5- Jerri Winfrey-Carter,
Ward 6- Herbert J. Winfrey,
Ward 7- Monica S. Galloway,
Ward 8- L. Allan Griggs,
Ward 9- Eva Worthing

Five of the nine council members will be representing their wards as a member of the Flint City Council for the very first time. Mayor Weaver attended the ceremony and wished everyone the best.

“It’s a new day and I’m excited to move forward with this City Council,” said Weaver. “The people of Flint have spoken, and we have a lot of work to do.”

    And for good measure, Mayor Weaver was also sworn-in again today before City Council’s swearing-in ceremony, cementing her victory in the re-call election.

The new Council members held their first City Council meeting Monday evening. The board elected Herbert Winfrey to serve as Council President, and Monica Galloway to serve as Vice President.
