Cooling Stations Opening Amid Ongoing Heat Advisory

FLINT, Mich. – In response to high temperatures forecasted for this weekend and early next week, the City of Flint is activating Cooling Stations from Saturday, June 21 through Wednesday, June 25, 2025, to ensure residents have safe, accessible places to stay cool.

Cooling Station Locations (Open Daily from 10AM – 6PM Unless Otherwise Noted):

  • Mays Senior & Community Center – 1002 W. Home Ave.
  • McKinley Community Center – 249 Peer Ave.
  • Brennan Community Center – 1301 Pingree Ave. (10A- 5P)
  • Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church – 2120 N. Saginaw St.
  • Christian Love Faith Center – 3202 Flushing Rd.
  • Latinx Technology & Community Center – 2101 Lewis St.
  • Franklin Avenue Mission – 2210 N Franklin Ave.
    Saturday 9A-5P, Sunday 12P- 5P, Monday -Wednesday 11A- 6P

These stations are free and open to the public. Each location will offer air-conditioned space, cold water, restrooms, and seating for anyone in need.

“As temperatures rise, so must our sense of responsibility for one another,” said Mayor Sheldon Neeley. “Extreme heat can be dangerous—especially for our seniors and our most vulnerable. These stations provide more than relief; they reflect how we care for one another in times of need. I encourage residents to use these resources and to check on their neighbors, friends, and loved ones during this period of high heat”.

Residents are reminded to:

  • Stay indoors or in shaded areas during the hottest parts of the day
  • Drink plenty of water and avoid caffeine or alcohol
  • Never leave children, seniors, or pets in parked vehicles
  • Use fans, take cool showers, or visit a Cooling Station if needed
