City of Flint to Offer Additional Leaf Pick-Up Opportunity Dec. 18-22

(Flint, MI)— Flint City officials, in cooperation with Republic Services, have arranged for an additional round of leaf/compost pick-ups this month. While the City’s “Bag-It” program concluded in November, high winds and other conditions have resulted in a significant amount of fallen leaves throughout the community. To help resolve the problem, Flint residents can now take advantage of an additional week of yard waste collection service, the final for 2017.

Republic Services will be out collecting bags of leaves and compost Monday, December 18 through Friday, December 22, 2017. Crews will pick-up leaves/yard waste placed at the curb on residents’ regularly scheduled waste collection day. For example, residents whose waste pick-up is scheduled for Monday can also set out their bagged leaves for pick-up next Monday, December 18.

Bags/containers must be placed at the curb no later than 7:00 a.m. on pick-up day. Leaves/yard waste must be in a brown paper lawn/leaf bag, or an approved container weighing less than 50 lbs. Bags/containers should be placed 10 feet apart from regular waste.

“I am glad we were able to arrange this extra pick-up service, because we heard from residents who said it was needed,” said Mayor Weaver. “We all want to live in a clean, well-kept city and as residents do their part to collect all the late fallen leaves, we hope this helps people dispose of their yard waste properly.”

Residents, who need to dispose of leaves, tree branches, grass clippings etc. after December 22, can drop off yard waste, free of charge, at Country Oaks Landscape Supply on E. Atherton Road.
