City of Flint Suspends Water Shutoffs During Extreme Heat

In response to the National Weather Service’s Extreme Heat Warning and dangerously high temperatures forecast for the Flint area, Mayor Sheldon Neeley has directed the City of Flint to temporarily suspend residential water shutoffs for the duration of the heat emergency.

The temporary suspension will remain in effect while the Extreme Heat Warning is active to help ensure residents have access to running water during this period of dangerous heat.

“Access to water is essential during extreme heat,” Mayor Sheldon Neeley said. “As temperatures climb to dangerous levels, we are taking this temporary action to help protect the health and well-being of Flint residents. We encourage everyone to stay hydrated, seek air-conditioned spaces whenever possible, and check on neighbors, seniors, and others who may be especially vulnerable.”

The City will resume normal water shutoff procedures once the National Weather Service lifts the Extreme Heat Warning.
