City Hall Closed, Mayor’s Town Hall Postponed & Trash Collection Delayed Due to Snow Emergency

Please be advised, due to the Winter Snow Emergency now in effect for Genesee County, the Flint Municipal Center (City Hall) will be closed until Friday, February 26th at 8:00 a.m.

Due to the inclement weather conditions in the City of Flint, trash collection will be delayed by a day. Pickups scheduled for Thursday will take place on Friday this week. Collections scheduled for Friday will take place on Saturday.

Local transportation officials are urging residents to stay off the roads, as much as possible. Therefore, Mayor Weaver has decided to postpone her Town Hall Meeting previously scheduled for Feb. 25th. The Town Hall will be rescheduled. The public will be notified of the new day and time once it has been confirmed.

Please Note:  Distribution of free bottled water, filters and test kits will continue during the snow emergency and be available to residents at the Flint fire stations.

Due to the evolving winter storm, Mayor Weaver has determined it necessary to declare a Snow Emergency in the City of Flint, pursuant to the state Emergency Management Act.

The Snow Emergency will remain in effect until 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016. During this time, parking on City streets is prohibited to enable road crews to plow streets effectively.

The City has fully staffed crews working 12 hour shifts. Fleet crews are also on staff in case emergency truck repairs are needed.

Plow trucks are expected to get to residential streets sometime Thursday, at the earliest. Again, residents are urged to stay off the roads if possible.
