City of Flint Hosting Summer Celebration Honoring Youth, Families and Community Partners

Community event will recognize Summer Youth Employment participants, Flint ReCAST partners and organizations serving Flints

The City of Flint invites residents to celebrate the close of another successful summer during the City of Flint Summer Celebration on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m. on the back lawn of Flint City Hall.

The free, family-friendly event will bring together youth, families, neighborhood organizations and community partners for an afternoon of recognition, entertainment and connection as students prepare to head back to school.

The Summer Celebration will:

• Celebrate participants in the City of Flint Summer Youth Employment Program and the employers who helped prepare young people for future success.
• Recognize the valuable work of Flint ReCAST grantees and community organizations dedicated to strengthening youth, families and neighborhoods.
• Connect residents with valuable community resources, programs and services.
• Provide a fun, welcoming environment featuring music, food, family activities, giveaways, resource booths and live entertainment.

Throughout the summer, hundreds of young people gained valuable workplace experience, developed leadership skills and explored future career opportunities through the City’s Summer Youth Employment Program. At the same time, Flint ReCAST partners and numerous community organizations continued investing in youth development, behavioral health, violence prevention and neighborhood wellness. The Summer Celebration recognizes these collective efforts while bringing the community together in celebration.

“Our young people are Flint’s future, and our community partners play an essential role in helping them succeed,” said Mayor Sheldon A. Neeley. “The City of Flint Summer Celebration is an opportunity to recognize their hard work, celebrate the partnerships that make our community stronger and connect families with the resources they need to continue thriving.”

The event also serves as an opportunity for residents to learn more about the programs and services available throughout the city while strengthening relationships between families, community organizations and local government.

Additional participating organizations and event activities will be announced in the coming weeks. This event is free and open to the public. Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend.
