Administration Welcomes Start of Settlement Payments for Flint Water Claimants

FLINT, Mich. – The administration welcomes this week’s decision by Federal Judge Judith E. Levy to begin partial payments to eligible adult claimants in the Flint water settlement. This has been a long time coming, and residents deserve to receive what they are owed. The administration also reminds residents that the City has not been involved in decisions regarding eligibility for payments or the timing of their distribution.

“As a Flint resident, I certainly share the frustrations felt by residents over how long it has taken for the payments to be dispersed. I am thankful that Judge Levy has taken this step to begin distributing these funds. It is long overdue,” said Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley.
