2nd Annual Hoop 4 Water Celebrity Basketball Game Saturday, May 20, 2017

(FLINT, Mich) Flint native and former NBA player, Morris Peterson Jr. has invited his celebrity friends back to Flint’s Dort Federal Event Center this Saturday, for the 2nd Annual Hoop 4 Water basketball fundraiser. More than 1,000 people attended the first Hoop for Water event last year, and Peterson is hoping for a bigger crowd this year. Proceeds from the event go through the Morris Peterson Jr. Foundation to help meet the needs of Flint residents still dealing with the ongoing effects of the water crisis.

Funds from last years Hoop 4 Water event were used to purchase two water filtration systems that were installed at local churches. This year, members of the foundation have discussed purchasing more filtration systems and having them installed at area community and senior centers in the City of Flint.

The Morris Peterson Jr. Foundation has been working with Mayor Weaver and other City of Flint officials to help make a positive impact. Leaders of the Flint Resiliency in Communities After Stress and Trauma (ReCAST) program donated 200 tickets to the May 20 game. The tickets will be given to children’s groups in the community to be distributed to local kids.
