Mayor Weaver Joins Community Leaders for Dedication of New Playground in Flint

September 20, 2016 (Flint) —  Flint Mayor Karen Weaver joined community leaders and Monday for the dedication of a new playground at Berston Fieldhouse. The new play space was recently built thanks to help from Friends of Berston, City of Flint, United Way of Genesee County, Make an Impact Foundation, Keep Genesee County Beautiful and KaBOOM!

“This play area is an exciting addition to the Flint community,” said Mayor Weaver. “We know that getting exercise and maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle can provide a significant benefit and be part of the solution to a number of challenges facing kids in Flint as a result of the water crisis.”

The new playground will bring more than 500 kids in Flint one step closer to having the childhood they deserve with a safe place to play. By building this play space we are making it easier for all kids to get an adequate amount of playtime in their neighborhood.

“I want to thank all of the community partners, especially the leaders of Berston, KaBOOM! and the United Way of Genesee County for making this need a reality,” said Weaver.
