Demo on Lead Pipe Replacement in Flint a Success

February 29, 2016 (Flint, MI)– Monday morning, workers from the Lansing Board of Water and Light, joined by representatives from the Michigan Department of Environmental Equality, Rowe engineering and a few other local contractors took part in a training demonstration on how to replace a lead service line with a copper line. The line was pulled from a water main to the service box in front of a vacant house, owned by the Genesee County Land Bank, on the Northwest side of Flint.

Richard Peffley, General Manager of Lansing Board of Water and Light said the demo was successful.

“Everything went according to plan,” said Peffley.

He showed Mayor Karen Weaver exactly what was done and she was excited by the good report.

“This means we can move forward with the “Fast Start” plan I’ve presented to get the lead pipes out of Flint. We’re on track to officially start the removal process by the end of the week,” said Weaver.
