Governor Snyder’s office announced today that Flint will receive an additional $2 million from the state to help with water infrastructure replacement costs. He said the money will be available for the City to start removing priority lead service lines within the next 30 days.

“I appreciate that the Governor has answered our call to bring additional resources to the table so we can start getting lead pipes out of Flint,” Mayor Weaver said.

The Mayor said she is grateful for the new funding as it will allow the City to put her Fast Start lead pipe removal plan into action. “This is a positive step in the right direction,” Mayor Weaver said. “Going forward I hope we can work collaboratively to convince state and federal lawmakers to bring additional financial assistance to Flint to meet the City’s immediate and long-term needs, including wraparound services for children, infrastructure, blight elimination and other critical areas.”
