BAG IT! 2015 Fall Leaf Collection Underway

It’s time once again for City of Flint residents to bag their leaves for curbside collection. From now through November 28th, leaf-filled paper yard waste bags will be picked up on normal trash collection days throughout the City of Flint. Leaves placed in plastic trash bags will not be collected. Residents are NOT allowed to rake leaves into the street by city ordinance. Curbside leaf collection continues through the week of November 28th.

Residents that need assistance with leaf cleanup are encouraged to seek volunteer help from their church, neighbors, neighborhood association, block club, or local youth group. Individuals or community organizations wishing to provide assistance to seniors or the disabled should contact KGCB at 810.767.9696.

Flint residents should expect to see street crews and City vacuum trucks passing through their neighborhoods in order to collect leaves that naturally fall from non-residential trees located between the curb and the sidewalk (the public right-of-way). These City cleanups performed to keep streets and storm drains clear should not be mistaken as an option for residents to replace or avoid the BAG IT requirement. Citations will be written and enforced for residents not complying with the city ordinance.

Keep Genesee County Beautiful (KGCB) in partnership with the City of Flint and Republic Services, will once again be coordinating the BAG IT public outreach campaign. Residents should contact the KGCB office with questions or to schedule an informational presentation for their church, neighborhood association or block club. Posters and other promotional materials are also available for distribution and can be requested by contacting KGCB at the number above or by visiting their website www.kgcb.net.
