| GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: | ||||||||||||||||||
| Manages, coordinates activities of professional engineering design and construction staff in the implementation of municipal construction and maintenance programs as related to master plans. Coordinates and administers construction and design business processes while maintaining alignment with the Metropolitan Planning Organization along with State and Local agencies. Supervises employees with multi-disciplinary skills who are represented by different labor contracts. Charged with meeting deadlines and resolving complex issues to ensure successful implementation and timely completion of projects. | ||||||||||||||||||

Flint is a dynamic city of over 120,000 population with unsurpassed educational facilities. A junior college and a branch of the University of Michigan are centrally located in the city. The city is undergoing dramatic physical change, with downtown development projects, and urban renewal projects. Flint is nationally known for its college and cultural center and internationally known for its Mott program of community education and recreation. Graduate work may be attained at the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Wayne State University, Eastern Michigan University, or Central Michigan University, each within an hour’s driving time from Flint. Michigan’s outstanding expressway system also places Flint within easy driving distance of the state’s many fine summer and winter recreation areas. Flint also has an international airport with scheduled passenger service.
The City of Flint employs approximately 1000 full and part-time employees under the civil service system. The many different departments provide such community services as police and fire protection, parks, golf and recreational facilities, street and sewer construction and maintenance, sanitation water supply, water pollution control, community development and many others.
