Census Office Opens In Flint Flint Mayor Dayne Walling and U.S. Congressman Dale Kildee among those expected to attend the ribbon cutting|
Genesee County, Michigan – February 16, 2010- The U.S. Census Bureau, Detroit Region is celebrating the opening of the Flint local office with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, February 19, 2010 from 10:00 to 11:30 am. The Flint Census office is located in the former General Motors Tech Center Building at 4400 South Saginaw Street, Suite #1480, Flint, Michigan.
Flint Mayor Dayne Walling along with U.S. Congressman Dale Kildee, and Regional Census Director Dwight P. Dean are scheduled to speak about the importance of a complete Census count of Genesee County residents in 2010.
“There is so much at stake for this community in the 2010 Census. We must be completely counted, because we can’t afford to lose any share of the $300 billion in federal dollars that the government gives to states and communities every year,” said Lawrence Moon, Co-Chair of the Genesee County Complete Count Committee. “For every person in this community that is not counted it is estimated that it will cost our community $1,000 per person, per year for the next 10 years. What people need to understand, Census 2010 really is about our money and our power.”
The Genesee County Complete Count Committee is working toward a 100% count of county residents in the 2010 Census. Census day is April 1, 2010. The 10 question Census forms will be mailed out in early March 2010. In most cases it takes only 10 minutes to fill out the form. It should be completed and mailed back April 1, 2010.
