|FLINT LIFELINES TO HOLD COMMUNITY FORUM ON PUBLIC SAFETY ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 15, 2013 AT 6:00PM|
Flint, Michigan — January 11, 2013— The Flint Lifelines group is holding a community forum on Public Safety at the Vernon Chapel AME Church on 5802 Dupont Street on Tuesday, January 15 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Sr. Pastor Rev. Dr. Mickarl Thomas will be hosting the event. The purpose of this forum is to raise awareness of the various resources available to community members in combating criminal influence.|
“The Lifelines program has had a positive effect by addressing the problems of
individuals within this community before they reach a critical level,” Police Chief Alvern Lock said, “it (Lifelines) provides just what the name suggests: a lifeline for those individuals, a way out of the bad situations that have led them here.”
Flint Lifelines is led by The City of Flint Mayor’s Office, Flint City Council, Flint Police Department & Flint Human Relations Commission in partnership with local, state, & federal law enforcement agencies and officials. Various local groups have also partnered with these government entities. Flint Area Congregations Together, Flint Community Schools, Resource Genesee/One-Stop
Housing Resource Center, Mott Community College Workforce Development,
Community Resolution Center, University of Michigan-Flint, Department of Human
Services, Metro Community Development, Genesee County Community Mental Health,
Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint, other health & human service providers, business leaders & community members.
