NEWS RELEASE 11/2/2012
|FLINT POLICE LIEUTENANTS AND CAPTAINS UNION HAS ANNOUNCED THEIR SUPPORT OF THE POLICE AND FIRE PROTECTION MILLAGE|
Flint, Michigan — November 2, 2012 — The Flint Police Lieutenants and Captains Association has told City of Flint officials that they are endorsing the Police and Firefighter Protection Millage. The announcement came to this office from Flint’s Police Chief Alvern Lock by way of Association President Collin Birnie. This is the third such endorsement to come from Flint’s public safety personnel over the past two days. The Flint Firefighters and the Afro-American Police League have also expressed their support for the millage.|
If passed, the millage would stabilize The City of Flint’s police and fire staffing levels, making them less dependent on outside grant funding and ensure adequate police and fire services for City residents. Combating crime has a direct impact on the quality of life and safety of residents and visitors alike. For this reason public safety has been a top priority for Flint, making the security of its funding a crucial issue.
