NEWS RELEASE 7/26/2012
|FLINT POLICE DEPARTMENT NOW IMPLEMENTING NEW COPLOGIC SYSTEM FOR NON-EMERGENCY CITIZEN ONLINE POLICE REPORTING|
Flint, Michigan—July 26, 2012— The Flint Police Department has begun using the Citizens Online Police Reporting System known as COPLOGIC for the online submission of police related non-emergency reports. The system will allow residents to submit a non emergency incident report through the City of Flint’s website. Once submitted each report will be reviewed by a police supervisor and, if certain criteria are met, assigned a case number and given to a detective for investigation.|
Residents will need an active email account to submit a report. If a resident prefers to be contacted by telephone, they can indicate this preference in their initial report. After submission, residents will also be able to add information at a later time by logging back in using the complaint number assigned to them.
The COPLOGIC system is a user-friendly program that will allow the Flint Police
Department to help citizens report non-emergencies in a timely manner.
Furthermore, the data obtained from the Online Citizens Police Reporting system will help police identify areas of heightened activity and peak time periods for crime. This information will then allow police to more effectively protect the City of Flint.
This system will be of great help to Flint Police officers by allowing them to concentrate on responding to emergency calls that require immediate attention, thus helping to improve overall police response times for emergencies.
“The Online Citizens Police Reporting system is an easy and efficient tool for making non-emergency reports so that our citizens will not have to wait any longer than necessary to make simple complaints,” said Captain TP Johnson of the Flint Police Department, “insurance companies can then be contacted for claims issues; in this way the system frees up officers to respond to emergency calls that cannot wait.”
Residents and businesses alike can access the Online Citizens Police Reporting
system on the right hand side of the City of Flint’s homepage, cityofflint.com.
