Washington, D.C. - On Wednesday, October 12th, Vice President Biden will visit the Flint Fire Department in Flint, Michigan to highlight how the American Jobs Act would keep cops and firefighters on the job. Through the American Jobs Act, $5 billion would support the hiring and retention of public safety personnel. By supporting such jobs, the proposed investments aim to keep communities safe from crime and able to maintain critical emergency response capabilities.

As a result of state budget cuts over the past three years, Flint has been forced to lay off over 100 of the city's first responders putting the safety of the community at risk.
