Know
Your Rights and Responsibilities

Keep VAP and the Flint City Attorney updated as
to your current address and telephone number, by submitting all
address changes in writing.

The VAP will send you notice of all Court
proceeding dates concerning your case.

The Flint City Attorney will offer you the
opportunity to share your views regarding the disposition of the
case before finalizing a plea agreement.
-
You have the right to attend all Court
proceedings on your case.

A separate waiting area will be provided for you
when you attend Court proceedings, if requested.

You have the right to make a verbal and./or
written impact statement at the time of the Defendant's sentencing.

You have the right to restitution when
appropriate.
-
You may be entitled to compensation through the
State of Michigan's Victims Compensation Fund.
The Flint City Attorney will notify you if your case is dismissed.

Contact the VAP to obtain further information
about all of these rights and how you may effectively participate in
the criminal court processing of your case.

Ask about your rights following the final
disposition of your case.
