Future Directions Clearly, redefining the Human Relations Commission in a broader context is essential. In housing, education, employment and public accommodations, many doors are open, however, there are still many subtle barriers to those opportunities, such as bus transportation, development of socialization skills through recreation and numerous others. The HRC must be concerned with people as Flint’s major resource and help to develop that resource, by assisting in defining needs which develop strong, productive people as resources. HRC’s approach, to enlighten service delivery agencies regarding their responsibilities in actively participating to respond to community needs in a more professional inter-agency coordinated manner. The HRC highlight and encourage more creative approaches to social change and survival in a continuing effort to promote peace and harmony in the Flint community.
