Flint, Michigan – February 24, 2014 – The City of Flint will hold a public needs hearing on Thursday, February, 27, 2014, from 4:30 – 6:30pm in the Flint City Council Chambers, located on the 3rd floor of Main City Hall.

The purpose of this hearing is to obtain the views of citizens, public agencies, non-profit organizations, and other interested parties on housing, emergency shelter, economic development, and supportive service needs of the City of Flint.
Written public comments will also be accepted at the City of Flint Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), 1101 S. Saginaw Street, South Building, Flint, Michigan, 48502.

DCED will furnish reasonable auxiliary aids to the disabled or non-English speaking residents upon 48 hours’ notice. Those requesting such services should contact DCED at 810-766-7436. The meeting will also provide City of Flint officials with an opportunity to present information to the community on the general direction of the City as it relates to the 2014 - 15 Action Plan and the City’s timeline for development, submission, and implementation of the Action Plan.

Approval of the Consolidated Plan by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is required for groups to obtain funding from HUD funded programs. Applicants for HUD programs must comply with the Consolidated Plan requirements.

The RFP's for the upcoming program year (FY15 - beginning July 1, 2014) for Community Development Block Grant and HOME are now available. The City will be awarding funds through a combination of a directed- and RFP-requested process. This year the city is requesting proposals for the following activities:

Public Services - community education
Housing - Single or multi-family; rental or owner occupied
HOME - new construction
