NEWS RELEASE 11/5/2012
|FLINT POLICE SERGEANTS UNION HAS ANNOUNCED THEIR SUPPORT OF THE POLICE AND FIRE PROTECTION MILLAGE|
Flint, Michigan ó November 5, 2012ó The Flint Police Sergeants Association has told City of Flint officials that they are endorsing the Police and Firefighter Protection Millage. The announcement came to this office from Flintís Police Chief Alvern Lock by way of Sergeants Association President Cynthia Herfert. This is the fourth such endorsement to come from Flintís public safety personnel organizations since last Wednesday. The Sergeants Association joins the Flint Firefighters Local 352, the Afro-American Police League (AAPL) and the Lieutenants and Captains Association in supporting the millage.|
If passed, the millage would stabilize The City of Flintís police and fire staffing levels, making them less dependent on outside grant funding and ensure adequate police and fire services for City residents. Combating crime has a direct impact on the quality of life and safety of residents and visitors alike. For this reason public safety has been a top priority for Flint, making the security of its funding a crucial issue.
