|CITY OF FLINT PASSES ORDINANCE TO ENSURE EXPENDITURES GO TO POLICE AND 55.5% OF GENERAL FUND FIRE FUNDING|
Flint, Michigan — October 23, 2012— Flint’s Emergency Financial Manager Ed Kurtz has signed an ordinance guaranteeing that at least 55.5% of the unrestricted General Fund shall be used to fund the police and fire departments. The current level of funding for police and fire is 55.5% of the General Fund; the ordinance guarantees that no changes to lower this percentage of funding shall occur.|
Any unrestricted revenue streams that come into the General Fund shall be divided to reflect a 55.5% increase in police and fire spending. In addition, if the Police and Fire Protection Millage is adopted by voters, all funds generated by it would be restricted to spending on police and fire.
