Historic Districts in Flint
The
Department of Community and Economic
Development provides
administrative and
technical support to the members of the Historic
District Commission which is a group of seven (7)
citizens appointed by the mayor for the purpose
of recognition, preservation, and prot ection of
historic, architectural and archaeological areas
and structures within the City of Flint.
There are thirty (30) designated historic districts
and buildings in the City of Flint. The HDC's
primary role is reviewing plans for construction,
renovation, demolition, or moving of historic
resources, and granting or denying certificates of
appropriateness. Any historic structure or
structure in a historic area must receive a
certificate of
appropriateness from the Historic District Commission BEFORE work
commences. |
