About Michael K. Brown

Gov. Rick Snyder appointed Michael K. Brown on Tuesday as emergency manager for the City of Flint, pursuant to Public Act 4 of 2011, the Local Government and School District Fiscal Accountability Act.  The appointment is effective Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011.

Michael K. Brown is the Emergency Manager for the City of Flint Michigan. He was appointed, by Governor Rick Snyder, on November 29, 2011, with an effective date of December 1, 2011. Mr. Brown's primary responsibility is to develop and implement a plan that provides for Flint's long-term growth, prosperity and financial solvency. It is anticipated that he will serve as Flint's Emergency Manager for at least two years.

Brown has served as president of for Prima Civitas Foundation, an East Lansing-based consulting firm launched and previously headed by former Lansing mayor and state representative David Hollister. Before his term as interim mayor of Flint, Brown worked for the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce. He also led the United Way of Genesee County and the Capital Area United Way for many years.
